The Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital seeks an Assistant supervisor to be a part of our Central Sterilization Department team, particularly to supply extra aid to the Unit co-ordinator through presenting great carrier and help in the clean everyday going for walks of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be accountable for:
Provide each day wishes with regards to sterile contraptions to OVAH clinics and personal vets;
Keeping document of devices and file losses;
Store contraptions in shop room for future use and safe-keep keys;

Conduct annual inventory take (instruments);
Assist group of workers with focus of unknown instruments;
Supervise day by day checks on autoclaves and the document maintaining thereof;
Ensure that sufficient theatre scrub fits are reachable for workforce and students;
Order consumables from pharmacy upon request;
Act as substitute in the course of absence of Laundry and Instrument Preparing staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12;
Minimum two years’ journey in the veterinary and/or animal fitness field, of which at least 6 months trip in inventory preserving and distribution of healthcare equipment/instruments.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
General Administrative skills;
Seasoned expertise about sterilizing equipment;
Seasoned information about surgical instruments;
Knowledge of economic administration;
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Windows etc);
Communication and interpersonal skills;
Organisational skills;
Ability to characteristic below extreme work pressure;
Attention to detail;
Able to hold confidentiality.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES
A tertiary qualification in the veterinary/animal fitness field;
Knowledge of surgical contraptions used in a veterinary clinic/hospital.
The annual remuneration bundle will be commensurate with the incumbent’s stage of appointment, as decided via UP coverage guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO scientific resource schemes and contributes 50% of the relevant month-to-month premium.
